Break a leg!

Quick update before we go out the door to see DS2 play a gig in Deal...hopefully, unlike last time, this one will actually go ahead and he'll get paid for it.

Of course, the title could refer to wishing DS good luck for his gig, but actually it's me who has broken something; not a leg, but a toe. Look away now if you're squeamish or don't like anything to do with feet.

This is the selfie I took of my poor toe, almost black after the silly thing decided to move in the opposite direction to the others when I came downstairs this morning.

It must be broken with the way it's swollen, the colour it's gone and how painful it is, but there's no point going to minor injuries as they don't even x ray breaks to toes any more and would only strap it to the next one anyway, so I've taped it to its neighbour myself. Now I'm hobbling about and my plans for a nice long walk this weekend are on hold until further notice.

I still limped to the bus station this morning to catch my ride to Hythe for a bag making workshop. No way was a little thing like a broken toe going to stop me going, but it was painful and the walk probably didn't do the injury any good.

Anyway, this is the bag I made:-

And this is Shadow claiming it as his own.
He fell asleep in it for hours this afternoon and I had to wait for him to wake before I could take it back to actually use as a shopping bag.

Okay, that's all I've got for now. Hope everyone has a good evening

  1. I have yet to look for crafting workshops in the area, I went to several in Wisbech and enjoyed them very much. I know that there are some near Cardiff but I do not want to travel that far Your bag looks good and roomy, the print is right up my street, I love colour.

    1. I have to travel either to Hythe (about 12 miles) or Canterbury (about 18 miles) for my tutorials. The only workshops in Dover are for beginners' patchwork and I've already done a course in the basics.

    1. Ouch indeed! It's not throbbing as much today, only really hurts when I put too much pressure on it when walking. I'm hoping the bruise will go down in a few days and then it won't be so uncomfortable.

    1. Thank you. It's not quite as painful today and I'm hoping will be more comfortable when the bruising reduces.

    1. Welcome, Froogs, nice to have you on board. Thanks for the get well wishes. The toe is a little less painful today and I'm a bit more mobile. The bag is lovely, roomy and sturdy, lined with hessian so should be good and strong. I managed to get my kitty out of it and will use it for when I can get out shopping.

    1. Thank you, Rachel. I finally managed to claim the bag back after Shadow had spent about 2 hours asleep in it. My toe isn't quite as painful today as long as I wear wide shoes that don't press on it.

    1. Thank you for the good wishes. My toe isn't quite as painful today as long as I wear slippers or wide soft shoes. I managed to reclaim my bag after a couple of hours and its currently being used to store my crochet materials.
